The first autograph.

Leon liked the blue parallel for his low-numbered bargain box. After a few minutes of looking through cards and explaining the project, he offered an on-card autograph from a retired utility infielder.

The player had a real major-league career. The autograph is not especially valuable, but it moves the project into a category collectors care about.

Why it matters

The project now owns a card that a player intentionally signed. Estimated value: twenty-eight dollars. Still modest, but clearly better.
